STOP THE HATE

In partnership with Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA) and SSG-Asian Pacific Counseling and Treatment Centers (APCTC), PVFAA hosts the Stop the Hate (STH) Program to provide support and services to victims and survivors of hate incidents and hate crimes and their families, to facilitate hate incident or hate crime prevention measures, and to create more inclusive regional and local communities, especially for those who are historically vulnerable because of their racial, ethnic, religious, gender identity/gender expression, sexual orientation, disability or other identities.

Cultural Workshops and Trainings

Our workshops and trainings support the AAPI community by building skills including empathy, self-defense, situational awareness, and de-escalation.
We currently offer our "Know History, Know Self" series that explores identity and culture through open mic events and group discussions. These sessions create a welcoming space for AAPI individuals to share experiences, connect, and grow together.

What is a Hate Crime?

A hate crime is a crime against a person, group, or property motivated by the victim's real or perceived protected social group.

A hate incident is an action or behavior motivated by hate or bias but which, for one or more reasons, is not a crime under the law. Examples of hate incidents include: name-calling, insults, displaying hate material on one’s own property, posting hate material that does not result in property damage, and distribution of materials with hate messages in public places.
